Established and managed an independent publishing and communications business specializing in limited edition electronic and hard copy publications including The Wordless Books, The Canadian Museum of Civilization Commemorative Publication and This Country Canada Magazine.

 

Workplace Safety and Insurance Board of Ontario (WSIB)

  • Managed all aspects of marketing and communications for the WSIB as the legislative mandate was adjusted from compensation to prevention. Managed all aspects of internal and external branding and social marketing campaigns. Led a diverse, bilingual team throughout Ontario.  Reported to the President and CEO/Board of Directors. FGI - formerly CHC Working Well

  • Built new ground within the behavioural health industry by bringing product management and integrated marketing disciplines to Canada's second largest employee assistance and corporate wellness provider. Introduced a product management structure to FGI, reorganized and merged two marketing departments and cultures.  Managed the customer care/account management team of 28 people across Canada.  Led all aspects of internal and external communications associated with the sale of CHC to FGI.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Provides advice and counsel to senior leaders on communication challenges, governance issues and employee engagement. Has served on public and private governing bodies. Recent clients include, Metrolinx, Ontario Ministry of Health, Toronto Board of Trade and Profis Communications.
     

  • Co Chaired the fundraising and completion/furnishing of 87 units of affordable housing at 40 Oaks in Regent Park in Toronto.  $22.5 million capital project with occupancy in January 2012.
     

  • Relaunched a traditional communication and public affairs department in a quasi public sector organization to meet the needs of the next millennium with marketing, e-communication and integrated messaging. Developed award-winning social marketing campaigns.
     

  • Introduced a product management structure to a very traditional service business including launching a cost based accounting system and margin tracking.
     

  • Managed the communications for the sale/acquisition of a subsidiary of a US publicly traded company to an international entrepreneur.
     

  • Built frontiers in Canadian educational marketing having agreed to break new ground by bringing a customer focus and packaged goods marketing expertise to the branding and institutional positioning of a university within a regulated and publicly funded post secondary market.
     

  • Built and executed integrated marketing and communications plan for start up telecommunications subsidiary including public and media relations, advertising, event marketing and internal sales and communication materials.
     

  • Coordinated the National Capital Region candidature to host Expo 2005. Obtained sponsorship and support from over 500 corporations, 1800 volunteers and over 18,000 citizens in less than 1 year.
